Clashes between herdsmen, farmers claim 8 lives in NE Nigeria

LAGOS, June 27 (Xinhua) -- At least eight people are feared dead following a clash between herdsmen and farmers in Koh village of northeast Nigeria's Adamawa State, the police said Monday.

State police spokesperson Othman Abubakar, who confirmed the incident in Yola, the state capital, said a joint team of policemen and soldiers have been deployed to the area.

Local residents told Xinhua that the clash started on Saturday afternoon when a Fulani herdsman trespassed into a farm belonging to a member of the Koh community who raised alarm resulting into a clash between the two groups.

Bubah Aliu, an eyewitness said skirmish resulted into the killing of eight persons while seven others were injured and rushed to Yola Specialist Hospital. Enditem
