SYDNEY, July 29 (Xinhua) -- A vessel linked to one of Western Australia's largest drug bust in history is being auctioned online on a five-day sale ending Monday.
The boat was seized in May after authorities discovered 200 million Australian dollars (150 million U.S. dollars) worth of crystal methamphetamine aboard. It saw 14 people being charged for the offense.
Confirming this, a spokesperson for the Australian Federal Police said on Friday that the sale was allowed under the Australian Maritime Powers Act.
The spokesperson added proceeds from the sale will be determined later but in the past money derived from confiscated assets were used to fund programs such as crime prevention or law enforcement initiatives that benefit the community.
The advertisement for the boat states that it has holes in its floors, does not have safety equipment and has never been registered in Australian waters.
