Nepal defeated by the Netherlands in ICC Cricket World League Championship

KATHMANDU, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- Nepal has been defeated by the Netherlands in the first match under fourth round of ICC Cricket World League Championship on Saturday.

During the match held at VRA Ground in Amstelveen of Netherlands, the host team defeated Nepal by seven wickets.

Netherlands completed the 95 runs target set by Nepal in the 17 over losing just three wickets. Losing the toss and batting first, Nepal was bowled out for just 94 runs.

Nepalese Opener Anil Kumar Mandal, Sharad Bheswakar, Gyanendra Malla and Sompal Kami were the only players who could deliever strong display.

Nepal is playing two-leg 50-over matches with Netherlands among which the second match will be held at the same ground on Aug. 15. Nepalese national cricket team is led by Captain Paras Khadka whereas chief coach is Jagat Tamata.

Nepal is in the sixth place in the point table of the eight-team competition, while the Netherlands stands on top with 10 points.

The top four teams will earn berths in the ICC World Cup Qualifiers.
