YANGON, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar authorities have seized a Thai national-owned fishing vessel which entered Myanmar's territorial waters in Kawthaung , southernmost of the country recently, official media reported Tuesday.
With seven fishermen on board, the Thai vessel left Thailand's Ranaung last week to catch fish illegally in the Myanmar waters and was caught on Sunday afternoon, investigation revealed.
The Thai fishermen were hiding in the west of Hsin Island and catching fishes as the Thai authorities cracked down on illegal fishing in its territory under the European Union's Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) Fishing Project.
