ISLAMABAD, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- At least 11 militants were killed and four others injured when Pakistani army launched aerial and ground operation in the country's northwest tribal area of Khyber Agency on Thursday, officials said.
Inter-Services Public Relations, the mouthpiece of Pakistani army, said in a statement that the troops also pounded eight militants' hideouts in precision air strikes and synchronised ground operation in Babar Kachkol, Naray Nao, and Tor Sapar areas of Rajgal region of Khyber Agency, a semi-autonomous tribal area along Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
Thursday's armed offensive is the continuation of the army operation in the Rajgal area, aiming at the reinforcement of troop deployment for effectively checking and guarding against movement across the porous border.
The operation, which was kicked off on August 16, has so far claimed the lives of 26 militants and left scores others injured.
