SHIJIAZHUANG, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Items retrieved from a 12th century sunken ship in the South China Sea are on display in north China's Hebei Province.

More than 250 items found in the South China Sea, including those from a merchant ship that sank during the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279), are being exhibited at the Hebei Museum in Shijiazhuang City, the provincial capital.

The exhibits include pottery, porcelain, copperware, stoneware and coins, which highlight China's underwater archaeological work.

Experts discovered more than 10,000 porcelain objects and 511 ship plates from the vessel coded "Huaguangjiao No.1" from 1998 to 2008.

The exhibition will run until Oct. 30.
