JAKARTA, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian government has strengthened the travel advise for pregnant women to avoid travelling to countries being affected by Zika virus, a statement from presidential office said here on Saturday.
If the visit was unavoidable, they should undertake serious efforts to prevent being beaten by mosquitoes.
The health ministry has strengthened preparedness to prevent further spread of Zika virus in the country.
The government has issued a travel advisory for citizens wishing to travel to nations affected by Zika virus in February this year.
One Indonesian citizen in Jambi province was infected by the virus and some foreign holiday makers were also confirmed of having Zika infection after their journey in Indonesia, Health Minister Nila Moeloek has said.
On Friday, Singapore confirmed 38 new cases of locally transmitted Zika virus infection, bringing the total number of Zika infections in Singapore to 189, said the Singapore's Ministry of Health and National Environment Agency in a joint statement.
