NEW DELHI, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- Visiting Nepalese Foreign Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat met Indian External Affairs Ministry Sushma Swaraj here on Monday to prepare for Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal's visit to the country.

"Preparing the ground for an important visit. EAM @SushmaSwaraj receives FM Prakash Sharan Mahat of Nepal," External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup tweeted.

The Nepalese prime minister will arrive in India on Thursday on a three-day visit, which will be his first foreign visit after assuming office following the ouster of his predecessor Sharma Oli.

Modi last month invited his Nepalese counterpart to this country and committed to bolster traditional bonds of friendship and kinship when Nepalese Deputy Prime Minister Bimalendra Nidhi called on him.

Experts said the Nepalese premier's visit is aimed at seeking to repair the strained relations with India, which soured after a months-long border blockade in 2015 by ethnic minority protesters.
