SHENZHEN, China, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Third-seeded Richard Gasquet eased past qualifier Andrew Whittington 6-1, 6-0 in just 51 minutes, through to the quarterfinals in ATP Shenzhen Open on Wednesday.
The Frenchman lost only eight points on serve and broke Whittington from Australia five times as he registered his 27th victory of the season.
The 30-year old will face Mischa Zverev from Germany, who upset seventh seed Fabio Fognini from Italy 7-6(3), 6-4.
Fognini was not the only seed who suffered early elimination. Malek Jaziri from Tunisia ousted second seed David Goffin from Belgium 7-6(2), 3-6, 6-2. Enditem
