BEIJING, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- A senior Chinese official on Tuesday called for stronger political party links with Europe.
Sun Chunlan, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the CPC Central Committee United Front Work Department, made the remarks while meeting with Gabriele Zimmer, chair of the United European Left group.
She recalled President Xi Jinping's call for China and Europe to cement trust and cooperation and solve problems with wisdom, when he met with EU leaders in July.
China hopes to strengthen political party ties with Europe to contribute to closer China-Europe ties, Sun said.
She hoped the United European Left group would maintain an objective and fair position on issues regarding China.
Zimmer said the United European Left group would adhere to the one-China policy and play a positive role in cementing Europe-China cooperation.
