JAKARTA, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian police's anti-terror squad Special Detachment (Densus) 88 arrested a man identified as a terrorist in East Java province's city of Magetan on Tuesday.

The 48 year-old man was arrested in the city's main road at 07:00 a.m. local time.

Police confiscated explosives materials, machetes, pipes, vests, cellular phones, detonators and books with radical contents in his house.

The arrested man, identified as GW, was a member of Neo Jamaah Islamiyah, a splinter group of jihadist group Jamaah Islamiyah which was involved in string of attacks in Indonesia in early 2000.

"After the arrest, GW was brought by police for further questioning. The arrest was conducted safely without retaliation," spokesman at Indonesian Police headquarters Agus Rianto said.

Densus 88 arrested Siyono, a member of the same group, in March this year. Siyono died after retaliated against police who tried to arrest him.

Police said that Siyono had a pivotal role in the organization.

Indonesia suffered terror attacks in an American coffee shop in the capital city in January this year, which claimed eight lives including four attackers. The attack was the deadliest since the last one in American hotels in 2009.

On Thursday last week, Indonesia sentenced a terrorist to 10 years imprisonment for crafting the explosives used by militants in January's attacks.

Earlier this month, a radical group member was shot at and died later on after sticking an Islamic State (IS) sticker in a police watch post in Indonesia's Banten province city of Tangerang.

He was shot by police after he stabbed the police who tried to arrest him. The militant hurled explosives to the police before being paralyzed with the shots.
