RIO DE JANEIRO, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- Peru international striker Paolo Guerrero struck in second-half stoppage time to earn Flamengo a 2-2 draw with Atletico Mineiro in Brazil's Serie A championship on Saturday.

Former Juventus and Atletico Madrid midfielder Diego opened the scoring for Flamengo at Atletico's Mineirao stadium in Belo Horizonte before his one-time Brazil teammate Robinho equalized eight minutes from time.

Atletico appeared set for an unlikely victory when Argentine striker Lucas Pratto netted in the 88th minute after a Robinho through ball.

But Guerrero secured a point for the Rio de Janeiro outfit when his low strike rebounded in off the post.

The result left Flamengo second in the standings, five points behind leaders Palmeiras, who were due to clash with Santos later on Saturday.

Atletico remained third, two points behind their Rio de Janeiro rivals.

"We weren't at our best but we showed character to get a draw," Flamengo center-back Rever told Globo TV after the match. "We're going to fight until the end for the title."
