China, Australia agree to enhance law-enforcement cooperation

BEIJING, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- China is willing to strengthen law-enforcement and security cooperation with Australia, said Guo Shengkun, the Chinese State Councilor, on Tuesday.

Guo, who is also Chinese Public Security Minister, made the remarks when meeting with Michael Keenan, Australian Minister for Justice, in Beijing.

Guo called on the two sides to implement the consensus reached by leaders of the two countries, consolidate the legal basis for cooperation and upgrade the level of exchanges between the two countries.

He also called for deepening cooperation in various fields, including tackling drugs, terrorism, and cross-border crime, to maintain regional security and benefit both countries.

Echoing Guo, Keenan said that Australia will expand cooperation with China in tackling terrorism and tracking down fugitives.

BEIJING, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- China is willing to strengthen law-enforcement and security cooperation with Australia, said Guo Shengkun, the Chinese State Councilor, on Tuesday.

Guo, who is also Chinese Public Security Minister, made the remarks when meeting with Michael Keenan, Australian Minister for Justice, in Beijing.
