TOKYO, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi arrived here Tuesday for an official visit during which she is expected to seek more investment from Japan.

During her five-day visit, Suu Kyi is scheduled to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida, and officials of business organizations.

In his talks with Suu Kyi, Abe is expected to offer further cooperation in Myanmar's stability and development of regions which are home to Myanmar's ethnic minorities and seek improvement in investment environment for Japanese companies, local media quoted Japanese officials as saying.

Suu Kyi is also scheduled to visit Kyoto University, where she once studied as a research fellow, attend a press conference in Tokyo and participate in a forum on public-private cooperation in the Mekong region on Friday, according to Japanese officials.

This is Suu Kyi's first visit to Japan after her National League for Democracy Party assumed power this year. She last visited Japan in 2013 as an opposition member of parliament.
