Vietnam's business wages rise 7.5 percent in 2016

HANOI, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- Average salaries among Vietnamese enterprises in 2016 were estimated at 5.71 million Vietnamese dong (252 U.S. dollars) per month, representing a year-on-year rise of 7.5 percent, according to the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) on Tuesday.

A survey on wages had been carried out by MoLISA in 2,000 businesses with an average scale of 360 employees in 18 cities and provinces nationwide in 2016, reported the state-run news agency VNA.

Accordingly, the figures in state-run businesses and joint-stock companies with state capital contribution were 7.08 million Vietnamese dong and 6 million Vietnamese dong per month, up 1.85 percent and 2.56 percent year-on-year, respectively.

Meanwhile, wages at private companies and foreign direct investment businesses stood at 5.47 million Vietnamese dong and 5.69 million Vietnamese dong per month, up 10.06 percent and 8.58 percent year-on-year, reported VNA. (1 Vietnamese dong = 0.000044 U.S. dollar)
