YANGON, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar attracted over 3.5 billion U.S. dollars of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first nine months of fiscal year 2016-2017 as of December, official media reported Tuesday.
The transport and communication sector attracted the most foreign investment, amounting to 1.628 billion U.S. dollars.
The manufacturing sector followed with 883.141 million U.S. dollars of foreign investment, while the power sector received 605.672 million U.S. dollars.
The country's targeted FDI amount for this fiscal year is 6 billion U.S. dollars.
The total FDI as of December since late 1988 reached 67.24 billion U.S. dollars.
