YANGON, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- The Soros Fund Management will render technical assistance to Myanmar for its budget drawing process and taxing, Myanmar News Agency reported Thursday.

The assistance was discussed when Myanmar State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi met with the Soros Fund Management delegation led by its chairman George Soros in Nay Phi Taw on Wednesday.

The two also exchanged views on prevention and reduction of narcotic drug-related harm and rehabilitation as well as mining and production of precious stones in their discussion.

Myanmar's Ministry of Planning and Finance is drawing up the country's national plan for 2017-18 and working out projects in regions and states in line with the 12-point economic policy.

The National Planning Commission, led by President U Htin Kyaw, has called for planning big projects within the budget allocation of the country.

State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi, who is the deputy chairperson of the commission, called for inclusion of the projects in the national planning that she said can contribute to the short-term and long-term interests of the country.

The national planning will be submitted to the parliament for approval.

Myanmar's economy is estimated to grow at a 5.7 percent rate in the current fiscal year of 2016-17 and the country's growth of gross domestic product (GDP) is expected to rise to 7 percent. Per capita GDP is expected to reach more than 1.7 million kyats (1,307 U.S. dollars) as disclosed by the commission.

The country's economic growth slowed down in the first six months of 2016-17 due mainly to a slump in agricultural production, foreign investment and the export sector.
