KIEV, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- People, who were affected by the conflict in eastern Ukraine, will get a humanitarian aid worth about 2.5 million U.S. dollars from the government of Germany, local media reported Friday.

According to the reports, the assistance, which will be distributed in 2017-2018, includes food sets, hygiene kits and items of daily use.

Besides, the aid envisages psychosocial consultations for people living in the restive areas and professional courses for the conflict-affected population aimed at boosting their competitiveness on the labor market and promoting self-employment.

The assistance will be delivered to people living in the government-controlled territories of Donetsk and Lugansk regions as well as to persons, who were displaced by the conflict.

According to the UN estimates, the conflict between government troops and pro-independence insurgents, which rages in eastern Ukraine since April 2014, left some 3.8 million people in need of humanitarian assistance.
