PARIS, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- Leaders of France, Germany and Russia discussed the situation in eastern Ukraine and progress in implementing the Minsk agreement in addition to Astana intra-Syrian talks in a three-way phone call on Wednesday, the French presidency said in a statement.

French President Francois Hollande called for the Minsk agreement to be fully implemented, as it remains "the only way" to end the Ukraine crisis peacefully, according to the statement.

Hollande urged Moscow and Kiev to make "necessary" efforts to meet humanitarian commitments including prisoners' release and restoration of water supply.

On Syria peace talks, Hollande asked for a large representation of opposition and to respect ceasefire accord reached by the end of December 2016, the statement said.
