LUSAKA, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- The Zambian government on Friday reiterated that it has no plans to introduce a dress code for teachers.
Recently, the Teaching Service Commission, a quasi-government agency that oversees all matters related to terms and conditions of teacher services, suggested that a dress code for serving teachers, especially for female teachers be put in place in order to enhance effective learning.
But Hilary Chipango, the spokesperson for the Ministry of General Education said the ministry has no plans to introduce a dress code for teachers as it was not an important issue.
He added that teachers have always been advised to dress appropriately when on duty in accordance with their profession requirement and that there was no need to put in place a dress code.
