TIRANA, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- The flow of foreign direct investments in Albania has maintained an upward positive trend in the last years, Albanian Investment Development Agency (AIDA) said Sunday in a press release.

AIDA made this statement as a response to the declarations made few days ago by the opposition lawmakers who accused the government of stepping back foreign investments.

According to the agency, depending on the Albanian Ministry of Economy, Albania is absorbing more and more investments.

"In 2015, Albania attracted more foreign investments compared to the previous year, maintaining this upward trend. In concrete terms, the flow of foreign direct investments in 2015 hit the value of 890 mln euros (956 million U.S. dollars) versus 869 mln euros (933 million U.S. dollars) recorded in 2014," AIDA said in its statement.

Further, AIDA noted that in Q3, 2016, the flow of direct foreign investments to Albania amounted to 286 mln euros, with an upward trend of 12 percent, compared to the flow of 255 mln euros in the corresponding period of 2015.

The International Monetary Fund has recently updated the performance of foreign investments stock for 2015 in 117 economies, including Albania.

The IMF's data showed that the stock of FDI inflows in Albania at the end of 2015 was at the level of 4.2 billion dollars. (1 euro = 1.08 U.S. dollars)
