Source: Xinhua   2017-02-06 22:03:34

ALMATY, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- Zang Yize gifted China the third gold medal at the Winter Universiade here on Monday, finishing first in the women's 500m race of short track speeding skating.

China had dominated both the men's and women's aerials super final a week ago.

Three Chinese skaters participated in the women's 500m race and two of them moved to the final in which Zang Yize and Xu Aili made a one-two finish.

Zang timed 44.015 seconds.

Zang regarded the gold as a compensation for her loss in Sunday's 1,500m race in which she was fouled and didn't finish the race.

"I felt regret yesterday, at least I should have taken a medal. Today I performed all I have acquired in daily training. I am satisfied with this result."

In the men's race, Kim Do Kyoum from South Korea finished first in 41.175 seconds. China's Chen Guang finished second but his silver was deprived by a foul.
