KAMPALA, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- Home side KCCA FC registered a slim 1-0 win over CD Premeiro De Agosto of Angola in the preliminary first leg of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Championship here on Friday.

After a goalless first half, the Uganda League champions scored in the 48th minute when Geoffrey Sserunkuma headed Brian Majwega's corner into the net. Sserunkuma made no mistake from close range, giving no chance to the goalkeeper Adao Joadquin Cabaca.

The visitors, coached by Bosnia's Dragan Jovic, then took the game by the scruff of the neck but lacked the finishing punch. Both Salomao Troco and Isaac Da Coast had chances to equalise the score but their shots missed the target.

KCCA FC defender Timothy Awany almost scored in his own net when he headed a back pass which the goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan was quick to parry away for a corner kick.

Mike Mutebi, the KCCA FC coach was not happy with the slim win, saying they missed several scoring chances.

"I am not so impressed with this win. We need to go back to the drawing board," he said.

His counterpart Jovic said he is happy they lost by a small margin away from home. "I am optimistic we can also get a good win in Luanda and qualify for the next round," he said.
