TIRANA, Feb.21 (Xinhua) -- The new law on promoting renewable energy in Albania was published Tuesday, thus paving the way to the entry into force of this law.
Under this law, Albania's general objective for renewable energy sources in gross final energy consumption is set at 38 percent for 2020.
It is a considerable growth, considering that the share of renewable energy in Albania in 2009 was 31.2 percent.
The contribution of renewable energy has seen an upward trend over the years as its average share in 2013-2014 was 33.2 percent, 34.3 percent in 2015-2016. For 2017-2018 it is targeted at 35.6 percent, sources from the Energy Ministry showed.
According to the Albanian government, the main aim of this law is to encourage the growth of energy production from renewable sources to ensure a sustainable development in Albania.
