AMMAN, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) -- Jordan and Canada on Thursday signed a grant agreement worth 7.5 million U.S. dollars, the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation said.
The grant seeks to support Jordan's educational sector, and accelerate the enrollment of Syrian students in schools in Jordan, the ministry said in a statement.
The move came after the London Conference for donor countries held last year in which countries pledged to boost aid to Jordan.
Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Imad Fakhoury, voiced appreciation to Canada for its aid to Jordan.
Education Minister Omar Razzaz said Jordan should not be left alone as it is providing a great humanitarian service.
He added that building a proper educational environment will lead to peace and stability.
According to official figures, there are some 1.4 million Syrian refugees in Jordan. Enditem
