Tokyo stocks rise in morning on Wall Street's lead, weak yen spurs buying

TOKYO, March. 2 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced Thursday morning as Wall Street's overnight rally set an upbeat market mood, while a comparatively weak yen underpinned broader sentiment and saw a swathe of issues advance.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 250.08 points, or 1.29 percent, from Wednesday to 19,643.62, marking a 15-month intraday high.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 18.46 points, or 1.19 percent, at 1,571.55.

Notable gainers by the morning break comprised nonferrous metal, insurance and securities-linked stocks.

All industry categories on the main section advanced into positive territory.
