SYDNEY, March 3 (Xinhua) -- Sydney FC will take on the Melbourne Victory at home on Friday night in a top-of-the-table clash which promises to be one of the best matches of the year.

Australia's two largest cities are always looking for bragging rights on and off the field, and with Victory's excellent attacking front three up against Sydney's almost flawless all-round game, expect an entertaining, high-scoring affair.

On Saturday 17: 35 (AEDT) , the Wellington Phoenix will host the Perth Glory, in what Australian A-League fans refer to as the distance derby.

With over 5,000km to travel for the away side, the fixture is the longest distance to travel in world football for any domestic league side.

Despite Perth winning the last four meetings, an upset is always on the cards due to the disadvantage of the away team.

After a tough 2-0 defeat to Perth Glory last week, the Western Sydney Wanderers will be looking to regain some momentum against Adelaide United at home on Saturday 19: 50 (AEDT) .

Although not in great form of late, the home crowd should be able to see them get past the last placed United side.

On Sunday, Melbourne City will travel to the Central Coast to take on the Mariners.

Although the Central Coast were able to snatch a draw against the Jets last week and will be spirited by their home fans, Melbourne City have won the last five games of this fixture and should prove to classy with Tim Cahill back in action.

The other Sunday game sees the Chinese-owned Newcastle Jets up against the Brisbane Roar, who have are in the midst of a heavy Asian Champions League schedule.

The Jets have won their last two encounters with the Roar and are undefeated in six matches at home, but the Brisbane side will still be very hard to beat.
