BEIJING, March 9 (Xinhua) -- Chinese procuratorates last year investigated and handled 1,892 corruption cases involving misuse or embezzlement of poverty relief funds.
The Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) said in a statement Thursday that the number grew by 102.8 percent from the previous year.
China launched a five-year campaign to crack down on corruption by officials engaged in poverty relief work, which kicked off at the beginning of 2016.
According to the SPP, procuratorial agencies have focused on some key fields such as relocation, land use, house renovation, education and fiscal subsidies in the campaign.
The SPP also pledged greater efforts in preventing violations and vowed full coverage and zero tolerance in fighting such crimes.
