TOKYO, March 10 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks jumped from the opening bell on Friday as the yen's retreat against the U.S. dollar lifted the market mood.
As markets opened here, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 165.30 points, or 0.86 percent, from Thursday to 19,483.88.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 12.90 points, or 0.83 percent, to 1,567.58.
Early issues that advanced into positive territory included rubber product, insurance and marine transportation-linked stocks.
