KIGALI, March 12 (Xinhua) -- Rwanda and Sao Tome and Principe have signed five agreements aimed at enhancing cooperation ranging from agriculture to tourism.
The agreements are on cooperation in areas of agriculture, animal resources, tourism trade, air transport, and visa waiver.
Rwanda's foreign minister Louise Mushikiwabo, and her counterpart Urbino Botelho signed the agreements on behalf of their respective countries, following talks in Kigali aimed at strengthening relations between the two countries.
A statement released Sunday said both sides pledged to implement the agreements aimed at consolidating bilateral relations as well as promoting South-South Cooperation and strengthening African solidarity.
Botelho expressed feelings of gratitude to the government and people of Rwanda for the warm welcome extended to him, the statement said.
Botelho was in Rwanda from March 9 to 11. He was accompanied by a delegation of high-level dignitaries, including Carlos Manuel Vila Nova, Minister of Infrastructure, Natural Resources and Environment and other experts from Sao Tome and Principe.
Botelho and his delegation visited the Kigali Genocide Memorial and laid a wreath of flowers in tribute to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda.
The delegation then toured the Kigali Special Economic Zone and the Rwanda Development Board. The delegation was briefed about the efforts and progress made by the Government of Rwanda to improve the business climate.
