Ecuador's Barcelona beat champions Atletico Nacional in Copa Libertadores

RIO DE JANEIRO, March 14 (Xinhua) -- Ecuador's Barcelona de Guayaquil scored two first-half goals to secure a 2-1 victory over defending champions Atletico Nacional of Colombia in their Copa Libertadores group match on Tuesday.

Nacional's Jhon Mosquera opened the scoring in the 14th minute before Jonathan Alvez and Marcos Caicedo gave the visitors the lead before halftime.

Damian Diaz of Barcelona and Mateus Uribe of Nacional were sent off as tensions boiled over late in the match, before the hosts held on to secure top spot in Group A.

In Rio de Janeiro, Rodrigo Pimpao netted 11 minutes from time to hand hosts Botafogo a 2-1 win over Argentina's Estudiantes at the Olympic stadium.

Roger gave the hosts the lead in the 34th minute before Juan Otero equalized just after the hour mark.

In Tuesday's only other match, Peru's Melgar held on for a 1-0 victory over Ecuador's Emelec thanks to a second-half strike from Luis Garcia.
