WARSAW, March 15 (Xinhua) -- Polish Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski and his Ukrainian counterpart Pavlo Klimkin discussed energy security and protection of memorial sites on Wednesday.

At a joint press conference, Waszczykowski said the planned Nord Stream 2 project might be a possible "instrument of political influence" used by Russia and Poland.

Poland, together with the Baltic states and Ukraine, are against the Nord Stream 2 pipeline project between Russia and Germany.

The planned pipeline aims to deliver 55 billion cubic meters of gas a year from Russia to Germany, but would not lead through the territory of the opposing countries.

Waszczykowski also said both Poland and Ukraine will "use all possible means of law, international tribunals, to present their case in this regard to the European Union".

He added the Polish government was constantly trying to diversify supply sources, including construction of an LNG terminal in Swinoujscie, due to which, it might import gas from all over the world.

The terminal will be enlarged, Waszczykowski said, and a gas line to be constructed together with Denmark and Norway, reaching the North Sea is a subject of discussion.
