GAZA, March 22 (Xinhua) -- A Palestinian young man was killed and another injured early Wednesday after Israeli tanks, stationed on the borders with eastern Rafah town in southern Gaza Strip, fired a tank shell on them, medics said.
Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesman of Gaza health ministry said in a shirt text message sent to reporters that the two casualties; one dead and the other seriously injured, were brought to Abu Yousef al-Najjar Hospital in the town.
He said that an Israeli tank shell was fired on them and it had killed one and seriously wounded the other, adding that no more casualties were reported.
Witnesses said the two young men approached the borderline area between the eastern part of the town and Israel trying to cross the fence of the birders and get into Israel, adding that then they heard a huge explosion after a tank fired on them.
The Israeli army has been carrying out on Tuesday and overnight a military training near the borderline between the Gaza Strip and Israel. Firing on the two Palestinian infiltrators coincided with the Israeli army training in the area.
There has been no immediate Israeli army comment to the incident.
