KIEV, March 22 (Xinhua) -- The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has launched a project to support Ukraine's financial sector, local media reported on Wednesday.
Under the project, the USAID will allocate a total of 23 million U.S. dollars within the next four years to support the transformation of the sector, which was hit by the recent crisis in the East European country, said Interfax-Ukraine news agency.
The project is aimed at increasing public confidence in the banks, improving access to financing in the non-banking sphere and boosting the share of e-finance in Ukraine's financial sector.
The USAID has provided Ukraine with 1.9 billion U.S. dollars of technical and humanitarian assistance since the start of cooperation in 1992.
