MAPUTO, March 22 (Xinhua) -- A collision between a passengers' minivan and a truck on Wednesday afternoon killed 8 people and injured 14 in northern Nampula province in Mozambique.
The minivan driver is among the victims dead in the collision while the truck driver left the accident scene and his whereabouts are still unknown.
The truck driver is blamed as the responsible for cutting priority of the mini van as a local witness said.
"The truck lost its direction and its driver could not control it because it was at high speed, this is why he changed the direction until the collision with the mini van," a local witness told local media.
Central hospital of Nampula province confirmed 8 dead victims and said that injured people are receiving assistance.
"We received 14 victims from the accident, 8 of which have been dead, 3 patients are still under intensive care due to serious injuries," said Frederico Sebastiao, emergency director of the hospital. Enditem
