MINSK, March 23 (Xinhua) -- Belarus sees huge prospects for mutual beneficial cooperation with China in space field, Andrey Abramov, Belintersat Project Director, said in an exclusive interview with Xinhua.

The director stressed that the further cooperation with Chinese companies in the space field largely depends on the commercial success of the first Belarusian communication satellite, the BELINTERSAT-1, which was launched from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in China on Jan. 16, 2016.

Abramov assured the Belintersat Project is unique for his country and helps to develop high technologies. Belarusian experts ensure the operation of a geostationary communication satellite, he added.

Speaking about communication services, he noted the BELINTERSAT-1 provide mainly domestic users with radio and television signal transmission, audio and video information and data transfer service, as well as related services for the rescuers and border departments.

For an ordinary citizen of Belarus, this means raising the security level of individuals, families and relatives. In addition to providing satellite services to domestic, it also provide TV signal transmission and data transmission services for foreign users, he added.

"The project in Belarusian communication satellite services will find a ready market both at home and abroad." He said the main efforts of the project are aimed at providing services in foreign markets. "The feedback from our customers is very good", he stressed.

Abramov said that in the current international economic environment, the satellite communication industry is not in the best period, which also affects the commercial development of the project.

"Even so, our project still works with European, Asian and African countries, which are covered by the satellite signal. We have developed some customers and are discussing specific cooperation with some potential customers," he said.

He gave a positive assessment of the work experience with Chinese companies. "China have the most modern production facilities. The organization of work and the culture of production are surprising and respectful," he said.

Abramov said that currently the technical cooperation with one of the leading Chinese satellite operators is being carried out within the framework of the BELINTERSAT-1 project, the experience in organizing satellite management is being exchanged.

The work is also underway to create a scientific and technical documentation base as well as common standards and procedures for satellite management are being defined.
