LISBON, March 24 (Xinhua) -- A concert featuring fado, a traditional music genre in Portugal, was held here on Friday with Grammy winner Carlos do Carmo, the first Portuguese winning the award, as the special guest.
Carlos do Carmo, known as Portugal's fado ambassador, won a Grammy in 2014.
A slew of other big names in fado also gave their performances at the concert staged at Lisbon's Cultural Center of Belem.
Friday's concert is part of a year long program featuring Portuguese fado music, a UNESCO-inscribed music since 2011 which means "fate" or "destiny."
As an important part of the country's culture, fado is usually songs accompanied by portuguese guitar, a plucked 12-string instrument.
