BEIJING, March 29 (Xinhua) -- China has named 41 new centers for patriotic education, bringing the total number to 428.
According to a statement, issued by the publicity department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee on Wednesday, the education centers cover major events, figures and revolutionary sites from the founding of the CPC in 1921 to the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949
Most of the new centers are related to the Long March, it said.
From October 1934 to October 1936, soldiers of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army marched through raging rivers, frigid mountains and arid grassland to break a Kuomintang (Nationalist Party) siege, and went on to continue to fight the Japanese. Some marched as far as 12,500 kilometers.
The statement also called for more to be done to protect and maintain patriotic sites, the CPC's traditions, and socialist core values.
