KIEV, March 30 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine will deepen military ties with Georgia to learn from its experience in preparing troops for military action in mountainous areas, Ukrainian Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak said Thursday.
"Georgia has vast experience and it will be useful for us during the preparation of our units," Poltorak told reporters during a joint briefing with visiting Georgian Defense Minister Levan Izoria.
Apart from sharing experience in military training, Ukraine and Georgia will exchange best practices in reforming their defense institutions, Poltorak said.
The Ukrainian army has been boosting its defence capabilities since April 2014, when it started a military operation against pro-independence insurgents in eastern Ukraine.
Izoria arrived in Kiev earlier in the day for an official visit.
