JAKARTA, April 17 (Xinhua) -- Shipment of Indonesia's products overseas rose significantly in March from a year earlier as exports of oil and gas accelerated at a faster pace.
The national statistical bureau announced on Monday that the country's export grew 23.55 percent to 14.59 billion U.S. dollars in March compared with the same period last year, the biggest growth in six years.
Shipment of oil and gas jumped 23.56 percent to 1.48 billion U.S. dollars in March from a year earlier, head of the bureau Kecuk Suhariayanto said.
"This is certainly a good news," he told a press conference at the bureau headquarters.
The cumulative of the export by March expanded 14.83 percent to 40.61 billion U.S. dollars, Suhariayanto said.
Meanwhile, the import grew 18.19 percent to 13.36 billion U.S. dollars in March on the yearly basis, Suhariyanto said.
