British PM congratulates Macron on winning French election

LONDON, May 7 (Xinhua) -- British Prime Minister Theresa May sent congratulations to Emmanuel Macron after he was elected as new French president on Sunday.

A spokesperson from May's office said in a statement: "The Prime Minister warmly congratulates President-elect Macron on his election success. France is one of our closest allies and we look forward to working with the new President on a wide range of shared priorities."
