PARIS, May 22 (Xinhua) -- Chinese tennis player Wu Di's quest for a main draw berth in 2017 French Open was dealt with a huge blow as he lost 6-1, 6-2 to Uladzimir Ignatik of Belarus in men's first-round qualifiers here on Monday.

In the one-hour matchup, Wu, positioned 217th on ATP singles rankings, was overshadowed by his opponent from the very beginning, as 149th-ranked Ignatik broke in the first game.

Although Wu made a quick response to finish his own break in the second game, he could not withstand Ignatik's powerful serve. The Belarusian outscored Wu 8-1 in aces, and had much advantage in his first serve made with 76 percent compared with Wu's 56 percent.

Ignatik bagged the following five games for a 6-1 victory in the first set.

Wu made a bit improvement in the second set to hold his first two serves, while being broken in the sixth for a 4-2 deficit.

Too many unforced errors proved to be a huge obstacle for Wu, whose poor volley saw him down at 6-2 in the second set to say goodbye to the Grand Slam tournament.

128 men's qualifers fight for 16 berths in the main draw of Roland Garros from Monday to Friday, with 12 women's main draw spots will come out from 96 qualifiers through the contest from Tuesday to Friday.
