PARIS, May 26 (Xinhua) -- France condemns "with the utmost firmness" the attack that took place Friday in the Egyptian province of Minya, which left about 20 Christian people dead, the French Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian said Friday in a statement.
"I condemn in the name of France with the utmost firmness the cowardly and barbarous act that plagues Egypt. No one should fear for his life by exercising the fundamental right to freely practice his faith," the minister said.
"I extend my condolences to the families of the victims and express my full solidarity with the Egyptian authorities and people," he said, adding that "France stands firmly on the side of Egypt in its fight against the terrorism."
