KIEV, May 26 (Xinhua) -- A small plane crashed Friday in Ukraine's northern Chernigov region, killing a 36-year-old pilot, authorities said.
The accident occurred at about 3 p.m. local time (1200 GMT), when the Cessna-172 single-engine plane crashed in a residential area of Chernigov city and caught fire, said the State Service for Emergencies.
The fire was extinguished later and no one on the ground was injured, it said.
The cause of the crash remained unclear. An investigation is under way.
