Turkish embassy in Kabul damaged during bomb attack

Ankara, May 31 (Xinhua) -- The Turkish Embassy in Kabul was damaged in Wednesday's car bomb attack in the Afghan capital, said the Turkish Foreign Ministry in a statement.

The ministry noted that no Turkish personnel were harmed however.

"The attack took place in an area where many government facilities and foreign missions are located. Turkish embassy buildings also endured damage due to the explosion. Embassy personnel were unharmed in the attack," read the statement.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the heinous terrorist attack and conveyed its condolences to the government and people of Afghanistan.

"Turkey will continue to stand by the government of Afghanistan and its friendly and brotherly people in the fight against terrorism," added the ministry.

The powerful car bomb exploded in central Kabul, where several diplomatic representatives, official institutions as well as the Presidential Palace are located, killing at least 80 people and injuring over 350 others.
