BERLIN, June 4 (Xinhua) -- German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Sunday condemned the renewed attack in London.
"I feel sad and dismay after I heard the attacks last night in London. At this time I convey my sympathy and solidarity to our British friends and all Londoners." Merkel said.
Unidentified attackers drove a van into pedestrians on London Bridge on Saturday night and stabbed people in the nearby Borough Market area. Seven people have died in addition to the three attackers shot dead by police in the attack.
Merkel offered her condolences for the victims, saying "today we are united across borders in horror and grief" and will fight terrorism together.
On the same day, German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel also denounced the act.
"Once again the UK was hit by terror, once again the attack was on people who just wanted to spend a fun evening......We are on the side of our British friends, and will not be soft." Gabriel said.
