LAUSANNE, Switzerland, June 9 (Xinhua) -- The International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Thomas Bach said here on Friday that they have planned to announce the hosts for the 2024 and 2028 Olympic Games together.
Bach told a news conference that the executive board of the IOC "unanimously approved the recommendations to award the Olympic Games 2024 and 2028 at the same time."
"This represents a golden opportunity for the Olympic Games and for the IOC," Bach said after an executive board meeting.
"Los Angeles and Paris are two such great cities, two such great countries, having two candidatures who are really enthusiastic," Bach said.
Paris and Los Angeles are the only two cities bidding for the 2024 Olympics.
A meeting of the full IOC from July 11-12 in Lausanne will be asked to ratify the board's request.
A final hosts for the Games will still be decided in a vote which will take place on Sept. 13 in Lima, Peru, at the regularly scheduled IOC annual meeting.
