BEIJING, June 14 (Xinhua) -- Taiwan's current Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) administration has increasingly stymied cross-Strait communication and cooperation, a spokesman from the Chinese mainland said at a news briefing Wednesday.

Ma Xiaoguang, spokesman for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, made the remarks in response to concerns that the trips of some mainland personnel in Taiwan were being strictly controlled by the DPP administration.

The spokesman said that the mainland encouraged and supported cross-Strait people-to-people exchange and cooperation in various fields.

"Since May 20 last year, the DPP administration has undermined the political foundation for the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations and impeded exchange and cooperation between cross-Strait compatriots," Ma said.
