Some 6,000 runners attend 2017 Changchun Jingyuetan Forest Marathon

CHANGCHUN, China, June 18 (Xinhua) -- Changchun Jingyuetan International Forest Marathon 2017 kicked off here on Sunday, attracting more than 6,000 runners from 32 countries and regions.

Compared with regular marathons, the track of Jingyuetan Forest Marathon features mountain slopes, forest sand roads and a lot of beautiful single track. The total climb is around 750 meters.

The competitions comprise a full marathon, a half marathon, and a 7km jaunt, which is catered for parents to participate with their children.

Liu Liang, a local runner commented on the race, "The scenery here is very charming and it was an ideal day for running. I would enjoy myself."

Alejandro, an electronics engineer from Germany who lives in Wuhan now. is a keen runner who has experienced many marathons. "I want to compete in an amazing atmosphere with abundant oxygen. And the wish has come true," said Alejandro.

After the competitions, Dong Ruihuang won the men's entire Marathon in 2 hours 51 minutes and 49 seconds. Li Xiuyan won the women's race in 3:48:10.

Changchun Jingyuetan International Forest Marathon is the upgrade edition of Vasaloppet cross-country skiing festival. It is the first forest marathon in China and takes place every year since 2015 in Jingyuetan national scenic area which is a National 5A Level Tourism Scenic Area.
