GUANGZHOU, China, June 18 (Xinhua) -- Russia U20 beat China U20 3-1 in the women's volleyball tournament of the BRICS Games here on Sunday, claiming their second straight victory.

Both teams will participate in the FIVB Volleyball Women's U20 World Championship, which will be held in Mexico next month, and take the BRICS Games as a good chance to warm up.

After each pocketed one in the first two sets, the Russian girls took the game by the scruff of the neck and won the third and fourth 25-18, 25-19 to seal the match.

"Our opponents are taller than us in general. We missed some key points in the first set and played too defensively, but we can learn a lot from this match," said China coach Shen Mang.

Earlier in the afternoon, powerhouses Brazil took an easy 3-0 win over South Africa, letting their rivals only score 20 points in three sets.

Brazil and Russia were regarded as the title favorites at the U20 World Championships, and they will meet each other on Monday at the BRICS Games. Enditem
